My word of the year for 2026.

I’m not someone who believes in resolutions—I find that they bind me to promises I never end up keeping, and all they do is make me feel bad about myself.

So instead, for the past five or so years, I’ve chosen a word of the year. It serves as a gentle reminder to set intentions that align with my vision for my life, a kind of path that heads—often slowly, often meandering—in the direction I want to take.

This year, my word is space.

As it usually does, my word of the year encompasses a lot of different things I want out of 2026: space to explore my creativity, space to wander, space to express myself, the permission to take up space. I want to recommit to my art, I want to get outside more, I want to take risks in sharing my work with the world.

It’s a word that both brings me peace and challenges me—like any good word of the year should.
